Frequently asked questions

Feel confident with your understanding of what materials will be used for your project, details to your contract, and what services you are hiring.

What Payment terms does Creations and Repairs use?

In general, by the square foot and lineal foot for most projects. For complex, or numerous but small quick-like projects, we provide services by the hour (w/1hour minimum). Payment is due at time of service. We accept cash, checks, and credit cards. Credit cards add 3% surcharge.

We do contracted projects with lump-sum quoted pricing. We understand some projects need to be priced simply by its completion. Having a set price allows for our clients to know that the project will not exceed their budget. Payment is due at time of completion.

Projects over $2000 are contracted, and can be contracted over several months. Projects that phase completion over months have determined payment schedules - keeping distinction in its completion process.

How do I establish a budget for my project?

I will review with you your goals, and work with you to design your project to stay inside your budget. Some clients are able to self-provide discussed, reviewed, and approved of materials and get them on-site. Others need me to handle it from selection, to delivery, and install.

I work with you through a determination process - putting what you want onto paper and working with you to outline a plan and a budget estimate for your project. A new kitchen doesn’t have to be with custom cabinets. I can install in-stock cabinets, and repurposed cabinets.

What if I do not have a project, and only need a repair?

Free consultation for all repairs.

Initially an appointment is set to review the needed repair and discuss what’s needed. If possible, I can do the repair right then using the hourly service fee. Or, a time and day is set to come back and make the repair.

Is what I need repaired too small?

Repairs are needed no matter the size. For the convenience of those smaller repairs, I offer services by the hour (w/1hr minimum).

I understand there can be several very different repairs needed e.g., you may have a broken piece of stained wood moulding around a door (Finish sub-Contractor needed), a loose or broken board on the deck (Deck sub-Contractor needed), sheetrock damage to a wall (Drywall sub-contractor /and Painting sub-Contractor needed). Each repair could require a different sub-contractor.

Creations and Repairs is all of those sub-contractors, and many others combined. No repair is too small and with 25-years in business, design and construction experience. These several projects would be completed as a handy-person hourly service and the 1 hr. minimum fee.

What if I want to add to my project after it’s started?

I understand that ideas and needs can come after materials have been picked out, and after repairs and renovations have been started. I accommodate, as possible*, and use Change Orders when distinct changes to services happen. Which allows for flexibility and accommodations to be made to help you reach the vision of your project.

*Note that changing your project details after the project has been agreed upon or started, can influence the completion date and cost.

What is a Change Order?

A Change Order modifies the initial agreed amount and scope of work to allow for change of material and designs to the project.

What are the accepted Payment Methods?

Local checks, cash and credit cards accepted. No service fees for checks or cash. 3% surcharge fee applies to credit cards. Payment is expected at time of service unless there is a written contract.
